ladies & gents, i did dragon boating for the first time today and it was awesome fun!

you see, there's this programme that's for selected students from the 5 colleges under the ITE College WEST cohort. we're expected to attend various courses, workshops and activities to groom us to be "well-rounded". and one of the activities was the DRAGON BOAT! it's suppose to teach us teamwork and leadership.

so, it was at freaking 2 in the afternoon under the scorching sun. there were only 7 girls out of about 30 who attended, by the way. yours truly was so the very super excited. semangat tak terhingga lah sey nak dayung sampan.

when we were getting into the boat, the instructor made me sit at the back. i didn't know what to expect at all, so i just sat at the back and thought it'd be fun 'cause then i'll be able to get a good view of everyone in the boat. NOT.

orang tu (read: me) semangat berkobar-kobar lah as usual, bila suruh pekik, dia lah yang paling kuat. bila tak suruh pekik pun, dia lah yang paling kuat. but i had to keep my eyes shut most of the time 'cause everyone in front of me were paddling so hard and the water kept going into my face & my eyes! PEDIH LAH MAK NGAH!

we were still pretty dry initially, and then just as i was wiping my eyes so i could finally see, the instructor shouted something and everybody from the 3 boats started paddling and splashing water, LOTS OF SALT WATER, at each other. knncb, i was fucking drenched lah can! so i joined in and splashed water like i've never splashed water before. In the middle of Kallang River no less! hurhur.

i had lots of fun today. and made a lot of new friends! there were lot of older guys in the group, aged 25-35. that's 'cause some of them are actually in the Navy or the Armed Force and have been sponsored to get a certificate from ITE. coolness, no? in fact, there's one who's 35 and married. i bet you've never seen a 35-year-old married man in SCHOOL uniform. heh.

i wanna go dragon boat-ing again!

my english is deteriorating. i feel.

meet my donation can...

tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, on 24 June 2006, yours truly had volunteered herself for her very first flag day, ever.

yes, i had to tebal kan the already tebal face and go up to some unsuspecting victims and persuade them to do their part to help the less fortunate. i have to admit that i do get irritated sometimes when i can't walk from one end of Orchard Rd to the other without being approached by various charity organisations to donate. but at least, i do donate to one or two and when i've had enough, nicely say, "No thanks".

when i approached a couple who were walking, no, strolling outside Cineleisure with the husband enjoying a very delicious looking ice-cream, he actually said (in Malay), "God! can't I even eat in peace??". after which the wifey took out 10 cents and put it in my miserable donation can. unbelieveble can.

here's what totally made my day! as we were in the train going back to return our barely filled donation cans, i stood up to move to the seats across the cabin when a family that was alighting came up to me and the mother told her little boy to drop the 50 cent coin he was holding into my donation can. so sweet right? we were surprised. *I* was surprised. there's hope in our society after all.

little boy, i hope you don't grow up to be like that old fart who cares about nothing but his ice-cream. heh. isn't it ironic?

to the more compassionate Singaporeans, i thank you for being patient & kind enough to stop in the middle of Orchard Rd to dig your rubbish dump of a bag for change.

i don't mind rejections, but there's really no need to be mean. from what i've experienced today, the more apparent reasons why most choose not to donate are:

1) they're in a heated conversation with a friend while walking and refused to be interupted

2) they've already got the momentum in their walk and don't want to stop to look for change and then have to build up a momentum again. kira cool lah tu.

3) looking for change really is such a hassle for them

some other possible reasons:

- the stickers were not attractive

- the person asking for donation is not cute enough (cheebye, i wear pink hairband today to look more kawaii leh. obviously didn't work)

- (fill in the blank)

anyway, i'm glad i volunteered myself today. it's fun to see how differently people react when they see me walking around with a donation can...

you know what i need? a quick getaway. either to bali or bangkok. my school break starts the week after next, and i'm super tempted to get out of singapore. even if its just to KL. doubt it will happen though. endless projects, camp and what-nots.

i dislike regretting decisions made. i hate it when i go, "i should have....if only....". right now, i'm regretting 2 decisions i made the past year. but then again, my decisions were made based on responsiblities i had to fulfil. i guess that soothes the wound a little.

i kinda regret choosing not to go to jakarta & bandung just 'cause it was few days before our event. fucking event.

definitely the most intensed and stressful period for all of us. events management got the best and the worst of us all. although i'm not really happy with how it turned out, i very much value the experience. did i mention Ronin had been our event's guest? and did i mention that my dad had "sponsored" over hundred bucks for my event, even though we weren't expected to spend a single cent for our event 'cause that's what our sponsors are for? (note: be really nice to dad 'cause can't afford to return over hundred bucks)

to my friends, i'm sorry you had to see the worst side of me during the event. didn't help that i was really sick either. konon nak jadi superwoman lah tu, semua nak buat abih tu sakit. takpe, biar menyusahkan diri sendiri, jangan menyusahkan orang lain. heh, yeah right. fucking event.

but i'm really happy for my friend's event and they got the highest score too!

wah damn basi man ni cerita. anyway, that was back in February.

yea, so that's one of the decisions i regretted making.

terimakasihbanyakbanyak.

i think i'm gonna try to keep my hair longer. Not long, just longer. I don't know if i can fight the temptation to go to the salon for my monthly maintainence of my short crop, but i'm gonna try. So, friends or foes, if ever i let out an intention of trimming my hair, please STOP ME.

thankyouverymuch

im far from getting over it. maybe because i don't want to. it's a nice feeling to hold on to and it makes me feel good. neither of us could see it coming though. and now i miss it. alot. *sigh*

today's been a pretty bad day for me. partly, 'cause of that oddball.

i hadn't really been bothered by his weird antics last time, although it drives us crazy sometimes. we simply stayed out of his way and ignored him. but now, he's starting to creep the hell out of me. his actions or words does not anger me as much as it freaks me out. he's starting to appear as quite a psycho and i'm afraid that one of us might eventually get hurt.

not that he hadn't already tried to hurt someone.

damn. thanks eh. you just had to remind me of that incident! oh well, at least that other guy that had been "attacked" had been a pretty tough guy himself.

i pity him, though. i'm sure he didn't ask to be ludicrously odd. i've been though mental stress, and went through life as a misfit too, but that's in no way similar.
Well, i'm just gonna have to toughen up during Body Combat!

oh and let's not even mention that hell of a teacher. i admit that i was wrong but she didn't have to go to that extent. i'll call her PMS-AVENGER, 'cause that's exactly what she's doing. Fighting her hormones.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

on a lighter note, i'm going to Peter Pan's showcase at Hard Rock this Saturday. Yay! And Bamboo on Sunday. Yay! And my dad's paying. Yay! 'Cause i'm broke. Boo!

i need a job.

isn't it great to be broke when everyone else is celebrating the joy of Great Singapore Sale? no, seriously. at least, i won't be tempted to buy everything i SEE that says "--% discount!"
corright?? no? BOOOOOOOOO!!!!

no, no...i gotta think positive. i should be thankful for what i have and for the life i'm living. there's nothing more that i could ask for. no, not even that dress from Miss Selfridge or that pair of shoes from Novo or that bag from Topshop. Nope. I should say Alhamdulillah and thank God for everything that HE has given me. Amin.

and then i'll go back to devising ways to MAKE MORE MONEY, 'cause CUTTING DOWN is not a very good option. (inspired by Becky Bloomwood, Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic - Sophie Kinsella)

i is screwed up.

stop being a jerk lah. it's not my fault that you find me a threat. drop the sarcasm and insinuations 'cause it doesn't work. you think putting me down in front of the everyone would make you look better? just do yourself a favour and quit acting like a fool. it's nauseating.

World Cup Mania

25 minutes to the opening match for this year's World Cup in Germany! what am i doing? i can't believe i'm actually staying up to watch a soccer match. i'm no soccer fan, just in case you were wondering. the whole World Cup Mania is simply overwhelming and it's hitting me from all directions. well, you know what they say: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...

so, that's exactly what i'm gonna do. i was inspired after reading this month's issue of HERWORLD, and decided to make this whole soccer-frenzy month at the very least tolerable, if not enjoyable.

i'm not, however, gonna pretend i know my shit about soccer and give an "honest" opinion whenever a friend asks me what i think about "last night's game". no, i'm not...but i have my reasons for staying up to catch some of the matches. maybe even the ones at 3 in the morning.

now, if somebody were to ask me, "so which team do you support?". i'd probably say Italy. not because i think they're good. but because i think they're the team with the sexiest players.

Sexiest Team: Italy

1, 2, drool...

Dolce & Gabbana have wrangled five gorgeous Italian footballers to model their latest underwear in a new campaign: Manuele Blasi, Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Gianluca Zambrotta, Fabio Cannavaro. If their names alone aren't sexy enough, here they are in all their glory (well, most of it). (http://towleroad.typepad.com)

Ok, that's all for now. Stay tuned for more random World Cup stuff.

Ciao ;)

unbelieveable.

i forgot about Cat Empire's gig at Esplanade over the weekend.

sarah had sent me a text to remind me about Cat Empire's gig.
and i could still forget.

i was still high about the success of our event last Friday, and was already thinking about the Montage 2006 Photography Seminar on Saturday and FORGOT about CAT EMPIRE.

Unbelievable.

i got reminded about it only when I bumped into I-sha yesterday after almost a year! so we decided to have dinner and catch up. and of course, she couldn't stop raving about the Cat Empire gig. Thanks a lot, I-sha. those of us who weren't there, i think we've missed one of the best free gigs ever to be held in Singapore. i saw the video i-sha took and everybody had been on their feet dancing to the likes of "Sly" and "Hello".

oh well. i'll console myself by getting myself psyched about BAMBOO and listen to their latest album on repeat.

yours truly just had to have something on on sunday and couldn't go see bamboo when they performed at Bar None, BUT they will be here again to perform for 2 nights at Rock D'Fort.

><

Superb vocal is what endeared them to the millions in the Philippines and abroad. Named MTVAsia’s Philippines Best New Artistes and Songs in 2004, Bamboo is fronted by Bamboo Manalac who left another Filipino band Rivermaya at the height of popularity. Joined by fellow ex-Rivermaya Nathan, Vic & Ira, they put together the Bamboo. (http://www.popagenda.com.sg)

Be sure to be at Rock D'Fort!

1
the reason for the latest change in layout is 'cause the previous ones had certain errors so my blog ended up looking all weird & ugly. even the templates they offered on blogspot.

it's tough looking for simple, nice & clean layouts at blogskins.com. they're practically non-existent. there were alot of interesting ones but most of them had the teen angsty theme going on and i think i've passed that phase 'cause none of them appealed to me at all. anyway, i got tired of looking and finally came across this one, liked it and here it is. do you know that a guy did up this layout?

2
to my dear friends, thanks for asking how my blog is doing every time we bump into each other. maybe when we bump into each other again, you could ask me how I'M doing, then maybe you'll understand why my blog is often left neglected. hehe. i'm doing great, by the way. and no, i'm not "always so busy". the way you people say it is like as if i'm some mogul making moolahs in bucketloads. i just happen to dislike being idle (not to say that i'm NEVER in idle mode) and enjoy being pleasantly occupied. you just happen to always ask me out at the wrong time. i'll always try to make time for my friends =)

3
i miss having crushes. where have all the intelligent & charming men gone? oh yeah, they got married. either that or they're gay. how sad. a friend asked me the other day, "Looks. a deciding factor, or not?". but somehow our conversation got interrupted and we never got down to discussing it.

Looks. A deciding factor, or not?

a deciding factor for what?

i'm tired of this topic, honestly. i can easily say that looks don't matter to me, and that personality is what's important. i mean, isn't that the politically correct answer almost everyone keeps at the back of their mind?

a girl can say that good looks are important to her, and people may start judging her and think she's shallow but what if a guy whom she thinks is "good-looking" is "totally not" to someone else? would they still think she's shallow?

i quote another friend of mine, "as long as he doesn't look like he came out of ALIENS and scare the living daylights out of me and as long he's pleasant to the eye, he's fine."

next question, how pleasant is pleasant?

you see? it never ends. to each her own, i guess.

if you plan to start a conversation with me, let's stay off this topic, please. Now, don't say I didn't warn you.
